Christmas 2020

  • We have a recurring activity of Chase asking whether he ate his chocolate, and also being massively confused about what day it is and what number candy he should be eating from the Advent calendar.
  • Chase eating a fruit lollipop. "Chase, what does it smell like?" "Salt - it tastes like white salt."
  • Chase on a Sunday morning to me - "At this point, I would like to go play soccer in the basement and for Maggie to play with trains."
  • Chase, playing Legos with Maggie - "That's the money store where you get the money from a special bucket. Then you put it into there and it shreds the mail, Maggie. It shreds the mail. Not people or wheels, because they're too big."
We had a very nice Christmas with just our family this year. We Facetimed with my parents while opening presents and they got to see how excited the kids were about the various gifts, particularly Chase's Thomas train set. We did stockings first, then took a breakfast break, then opened some more presents, took a long break to play with some of them, then finished up opening in the late morning.

By around noon we'd taken down the tree and cleaned up the living room. In the weeks since Christmas the kids have done a nice job of playing with the toys they've received.
