Blog #4
So I’ve started 3 other blogs in my life, which have each lasted anywhere from one week to about two months. One was a requirement for a college class (hence the Blog de Rigeur title), another was a travel blog for a 3-month trip, and the third, least fully engaged, was an attempt at parenting observations through Maggie’s first few months. I enjoy the act of launching a blog, and the related anticipation around all the clever/insightful comments and observations that one could potentially enshrine forever online. Actually writing the posts, doing so on a regular basis, and then doing any kind of maintenance, has proven to provide less allure.
[Note - as I was writing this I realized that my old blogs are all still out there. They are! Blog de Rigueur, Quit, Play, Move, and Wake up Maggie. Kudos to Blogspot for keeping these up and running, for allowing me to host them all from the same page, and for allowing me to sign into my Blogspot account after a couple years without needing a username and password. Good work Google.
Also - I read through a few of these posts and enjoy them. That gives me a bit of hope/motivation for restarting on a new topic.
I do believe there is value to articulating our thoughts in writing on a regular basis, and everyone probably has room for more self-reflection in their lives. I know that time has been a partial constraint in the past, and I’m hoping that will be less of an issue going forward.
I’m committing to either operating this as a new blog, or maybe flipping through some of the old blogs and adding new content periodically. Might also start a Chase blog with a clever name. Or maybe abandon the Wake up Maggie blog and make a new one called Chasing Maggie . . .
